Pair charged with theft of valuable dog
A man and woman have been charged with the theft of a puppy from a Melbourne pet shop on December 16.
"Buddy", a Cavalier-cross Shitzu, was taken from the Melbourne Central Pets Paradise shop, where staff told police a woman distracted a worker at the store while a man took the puppy from its enclosure.
Police found the dog, since renamed Precious, at a house in Heidelberg West on Monday night.
A 23-year-old Keilor East man was arrested on Christmas Eve. He was charged with theft on Thursday and is expected to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court.
A 26-year-old Heidelberg woman has also been charged with theft and has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on February 14.
Police are working to find a suitable home for Precious, who is valued at $1200.
