A man has died after being hit by two cars while crossing a busy road in Melbourne’s east.
The man, believed to be in his 70s, was crossing Balwyn Road near Highland Avenue in Balwyn when he was struck just after 7pm.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the man was hit by a car travelling north along Balwyn Road and then by another car travelling south.
Paramedics attended the scene but the man was already deceased when they arrived.
Both drivers were not injured and are assisting police with their inquiries.
Police have closed Balwyn Road northbound between Gordon Street and southbound at Belmore Road.

The death takes the state’s road toll for the year to 131, compared to 117 for the same time last year.
