Playwright found alive in Tasmania, second woman caught on CCTV
Missing Melbourne woman Katie Dircks has been found alive in Tasmania, police say.
The 30-year playwright and Melbourne Theatre Company employee had been last seen on Friday night leaving work in South Melbourne.
Friends and family had flooded social media with pleas for help to find Ms Dircks over the weekend when she did not arrive home.
In a short statement Monday evening Victorian police said: "Elwood woman Katie Dircks has been located safe and well this afternoon. Investigators would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance."
The development was followed by news that a Werribee woman missing since last Wednesday had been spotted on CCTV footage at a shopping centre in Melbourne's west.
Police revealed Sandra Pevitt, 45, withdrew money from her bank account at the Wyndham Village Shopping Centre on Sayers Road, Tarneit on Friday. She was apparently on her own.
Ms Pevitt last spoke to her partner Paul Czech at her Werribee home about 8.30am on November 7, but has not made contact with any other family members or workmates. Mr Czech said the disappearance was out of character.
