An unmarked police car was damaged during a pursuit through Melbourne's north on Thursday afternoon.
Detectives from the Preston Crime Investigation Unit spotted an allegedly stolen car on Albert Street in Preston about 3.30pm during a routine patrol.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said a pursuit was initiated when they tried to pull the car over and the driver sped away.
Police chased the car through Preston, Heidelberg and Thornbury. The police helicopter was also involved in the chase.
The pursuit ended when the driver lost control of the car while turning right into Dundas Street, hitting an unmarked police car and another vehicle.
No one was injured during the incident and both vehicles sustained moderate damage.
A 26-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man were arrested at the scene and are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said paramedics were called to the scene, but both patients refused treatment.
Police are urging witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au.
