Poodle found decapitated

A miniature toy poodle has been found decapitated in Clayton South.

The dog, a female, was found dead in Clayton South on 27 March.

Following an autopsy it was determined the dog had likely been decapitated by a person and not as a result of the animal's actions, said police.

It was found on a nature strip at the intersection of Main and Haughton Roads around 11am.

Police and council are also trying to track down the owner of the dog, which is apricot in colour and is thought to be around two years of age.

She was not wearing a collar but had a small red and white bow on her right ear. The dog's microchip was damaged and unreadable.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
