Prime mover thief had sweet tooth
A prime mover has been stolen from a chocolate factory in Melbourne's east.
Police said the offender drove the vehicle through the boom gates of the factory in Canterbury Road, Ringwood, on Tuesday after breaking in about 4.45am.
Police believe the he jumped over a fence from a bike track, running parallel to the EastLink tollway.
It is believed he broke into five trucks before stealing the 2010 Mack prime mover and trailer, with the registration number YFY 525, police said.
Police said the offender drove through the boom gates, turned left onto Canterbury Road, before turning left into Wantirna Road. He fled the scene after stalling the prime mover at the intersection with Surrey Street.
Police are appealing for witnesses and urging anyone with information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
