A driver has fled the scene of a head-on crash, leaving his passenger clinging to life.
The run-away driver is believed to have hit a taxi head-on about 4.45am in Melbourne's north on Sunday.
Police believe he fled and say he was last seen running north along Coonans Road, Pascoe Vale South.
Detectives are urging him to hand himself in.
His passenger was taken to The Alfred hospital with life threatening injuries after the dark-coloured Ford Focus he was travelling in hit a taxi near the intersection of Woodlands Avenue and Coonans Road.
The taxi driver and his two passengers were treated by paramedics.
The run-away driver is described as being aged in his 30s, about 183cm tall with a solid build.
He was wearing tracksuit pants and a t-shirt.
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen him after the crash.
They believe he may have injuries needing medical attention.
Police also want to speak to anyone who may have seen the Ford Focus before the crash, possibly near Bell Street and Reynolds Parade.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers.
