Suspended learner caught over the limit

A 26-year-old learner driver with a suspended licence has been caught driving with an blood alcohol level of .118.

Carrum Downs police intercepted the driver, travelling on the Westernport Highway in Lyndhurst, where he was allegedly driving in a careless manner on Sunday about 8pm.

Police said that the driver did not have an accompanying driver in the car and was not displaying the required L-plates.

He was breath-tested at the station and blew .118.

Police expect to charge the Hallam man with exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol, driving while suspended, careless driving and learner permit offences.
