Two trams collided in Melbourne's CBD on Saturday, temporarily disrupting public transport services.

A witness said one tram crashed into the back of another on Swanston Street about 8.15am.

Yarra Trams spokesman Simon Murphy said no one was injured when the trams collided. Services resumed at 9.30am

‘‘They were travelling north-bound up towards Melbourne University," Mr Murphy said.

‘‘There were only a couple of passengers on each tram. No injuries were reported, which is good."

Routes 1 and 8, travelling from East Coburg and Moreland, were terminating at Queensberry Street before trams resumed running.
