A group of travellers living in about seven campervans have set up home in an inner Melbourne suburb and are reportedly using a local pool to bathe.

The group's unusual accommodation arrangements have raised the ire of residents in Clarke Street, Abbotsford who told radio station 3AW the unwanted guests were causing parking and noise problems.

One of the campers told 3AW he was living in his vehicle taking baths in Fitzroy Swimming Pool.

No action has been taken despite complaints from residents and nearby businesses.

Police have told residents the group are not breaking the law and there is little they can do.

A 3AW reporter said the vehicles had various interstate licence plates and some were parked in two-hour zones.

Emily and Tony told Fairfax Media they had been living in their van for three weeks in the street.
