An elderly man has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Melbourne’s north last month.

Police spokeswoman Belle Nolan said the 82-year-old man was crossing Nicholson Street in Brunswick East about 4pm on November 8 when he was hit by a Nissan driving north.

The man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and died on Thursday.

After a separate incident, a 32-year-old Thornbury woman who was hit by a car also died in hospital, after she was hit by a car on Sunday.

The woman was found by a passer-by on Clarendon Street in Thornbury about 2.50am Sunday and taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

An 18-year-old Reservoir man later presented himself and his vehicle to Northcote police station and is assisting police with the investigation.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman confirmed the woman died in hospital on Thursday afternoon.

The deaths bring the road toll for 2013 to 224, 48 fewer than this time last year.
