A 53-year-old woman has been charged over an alleged hit-run accident in Melbourne's east that left a pedestrian with serious head injuries.

A 29-year-old Heathmont pedestrian was rushed to hospital yesterday after she was struck by a car while crossing Canterbury Road, Ringwood East just before 7am.
The woman remains at The Alfred hospital in a serious condition with head injuries and a fractured arm.
Paramedics placed her in a coma at the scene.
Police have charged the Doncaster motorist with failing to stop, failing to render assistance, dangerous driving causing serious injury, careless driving and failing to report to police.
The woman has been bailed to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court next week.
