A woman has been stabbed during a property dispute in Victoria.

The 38-year-old woman was stabbed after being confronted by a 41-year-old woman over the ownership of property while staying at a house in Mildura, on the NSW and Victorian border on Thursday.

The woman and two men had stayed overnight in the house in Melaleuca St before the attack.

One of the men and the 38-year-old woman were allegedly chased out of the house before the woman was stabbed in the stomach.

Police established a perimeter around the home and negotiated with the 41-year-old woman, who threatened self harm, out of the house.

She was eventually arrested and taken to Mildura Hospital, where she remains under guard.

Inquiries are continuing.
