Drunk mum, 18, drove then crashed with baby on her lap, WA police claim

An 18-year-old Falcon mother has been charged after crashing her car while allegedly drink-driving with her three-month-old baby on her lap.

State Control Centre acting Superintendent Gary Lewis said about 6pm on Wednesday, police and St John Ambulance were called to reports of a car having run off the road.

They will allege the woman had been drinking and had her baby on her lap when she crashed.

Neither were seriously injured, though both were taken to Rockingham Hospital as a precaution.

The mother will be summonsed to appear at Rockingham Court for driving with a blood alcohol content exceeding 0.08 per cent, driving without authority (never having held a licence) and failing to restrain a child under 16.
