Loyal pet dog stays by missing boy's side

A pet dog's loyalty to his family was displayed when he stayed by the side of a four-year-old boy who went missing for seven hours on the weekend and was found safe and well in a vacant house.

WA Police spokeswoman Ros Weatherall said police received a report of a missing child after parents realised their son had wandered from his Clackline home on Sunday afternoon.

The parents noticed the boy, who was wearing only a nappy, went missing from their bed about 5.30pm and there was no sign of the family dog.

Police found the boy asleep on a lounge chair about 12.30am in a vacant house on Great Eastern Highway about 800 metres from his home with his dog by his side.
