A man has died, reportedly after being buried alive in a sand storage silo, in Naval Base today.

Emergency services officers were called to BGC Precast Concrete at Beard St at 12.15pm, amid reports that the silo had given way and trapped a worker, Channel Ten reported.

Six FESA crews, including fire and rescue officers from Hope Valley and Rockingham and the Special Risks Operation, rushed to the scene.

But attempts to extricate the man were unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

A WorkSafe spokeswoman said an investigator would attend and probe the circumstances surrounding the death.
