A woman has died after being hit by a car in front of a child, believed to be her son, at a Mt Lawley intersection this afternoon.
Witnesses said the woman’s car had collided with another vehicle at the corner of Learoyd and Walcott streets, a Channel Nine reporter told 6PR radio.
When the woman got out of her car she was hit by a van headed in the opposite direction.
It has been reported the mother may have been hit while trying to get her son out of harm's way.
The incident occurred about 3.30pm.
Police have advised motorists to avoid the area, with road closures on both Learoyd and Walcott streets to continue for some time.
