The general manager of the soon-to-be-opened Perth Arena David Humphreys has died.

"Mr Humphreys was recently admitted to a Perth hospital after becoming ill and passed away there this morning [Tuesday] after suffering a heart failure," a statement from Arena operator AEG Odgen directors read.
Mr Humphreys, who was in his mid-50s, began his career with the Seven Network and was better known for his role as general manager of the now-demolished Perth Entertainment Centre.
He became the general manager of Sydney's Allphones Arena in 2000 before moving home to Perth in 2011 to take up the role of general manager of the new 15,000 seat entertainment complex which is due to open on November 10.
"AEG Ogden have obviously been shocked by this news and will make an announcement on a replacement in due course," an AEG Ogden representative told WAtoday.com.au.
Mr Humphreys is survived by four children and five grandchildren.
