Teenage driver injured in crash

A teenager has been seriously injured after his car crashed into a tree, trapping him inside.

A 17-year-old boy was driving a Ford Falcon utility north on the South Western Highway Serpentine about 2pm on Thursday when the car left the road and hit a tree.

The driver was seriously injured and was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC Rescue helicopter.

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the crash or the vehicle prior to the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
