Afghan policewoman kills US adviser

Date

AN AFGHAN policewoman has killed an American adviser at the Kabul police headquarters.

Kabul's Deputy Police Chief Mohammad Daoud Amin says an investigation is under way to determine whether the killing was intentional or accidental.

It's not known if the victim was military or a civilian adviser.

The NATO military command says it's looking into reports of the shooting but has no independent information.

At least 53 international troops have been killed by Afghan soldiers or police this year.

Most international forces are due to withdraw by 2014 and have speeded up efforts to train and advise Afghan military and police units.
