Happy Tuesday! And what a Tuesday it's set to be, because we're in for a top of 29 degrees! (Yes, you did read that right). Hopefully you get a chance to leave your desk and soak up some of that warm sunshine while you have the chance, because it's expected to drop back down to 21 tomorrow.

But before you rush out the door to go enjoy those rays, here's what's making headlines in Canberra this morning.

For almost 10 years, coffee-loving parents have been visiting Peter Poulakis at his Boundless Playground coffee cart, from Saturdays to Mondays, hoping to 'fuel up' while their kids play.

In the time Mr Poulakis has run Burley Grind, he's watched trade grow, coming to understand what people are expecting when it comes to food and drink options at the playground.

It's for this reason, he believes the National Capital Authority's bid to open a kiosk at Kings Park, off Wendouree Drive in Parkes, would not be viable and has him worried for his business.

The report card is out and it's not looking good for ACT's schools.

A Grattan Institute report has found that the territory's schools "trail the nation", with students at least two to three months behind comparable students in the rest of the country.

What's more, the report predicts that the ACT is going to have to start lifting its grades. As it stands, the ACT's underperformance is getting worse.

Feel like there are more people in Canberra lately? Well, you felt right.

The ACT recorded the second-fastest population growth in the nation in the September quarter, with a key economic report indicating that the growing number of international students helped with the boost.

The territory's population growth was behind only Victoria, despite net interstate migration from other jurisdictions continuing to be flat.

Local product Henry Hunt has stolen the show in a stunning knock in the capital - on the same day Australian opening bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazelwood made their ACT/NSW Comets debuts.

The former ACT under-17 and Queanbeyan star scored a career-best 208 on day one of the Comets clash against Western Australia in the Futures League.

The 21-year-old opener proved to be unstoppable against WA's bowling attack, belting 23 fours and sending two over the rope to leave the Comets with a commanding 8-383 at stumps.
