If you feel like you've never been breathalysed in Canberra, there's a good reason. ACT Policing have conducted 55,000 fewer random breath tests compared to five years ago.

Drug and alcohol groups are concerned the low test rates are making Canberrans complacent about drink driving.

"We are still missing the opportunity to prevent death and serious injury in the ACT because we are not using those enforcement measures to greatest effect," one expert said.

The Canberra Liberals have criticised the ACT government's handling of a development application at the centre of a damning Supreme Court judgment, saying taxpayers deserve to know how it "could possibly get it so wrong".

The court found on Friday that planning authorities had invalidly revoked approval for a Canberra recycling company to build a train terminal off Fyshwick's Ipswich Street to transport recyclable freight to Port Botany.

If a driver fails to move out of the path of an approaching light rail then that would incur a $200 fine and a loss of three demerit points

Tuesday night in the capital saw an anti-racism protest and memorial vigil held across the city in light of the shooting at Christchurch mosque on Friday that has claimed the lives of 50 people.

Speakers and attendees at the protest in Garema Place blamed the Australian media and politicians for feeding anti-Muslim sentiment across the country.

Across the lake at Nara Peace Park, the bell rang 50 times to mark each of the 50 victims as payers were recited in Arabic, Maori and English.
