FOOD SAFARI WATER
Season finale ★★★½
8.30pm, SBS

Maeve O'Meara is a brilliant conduit to food conversations and while very much present at each tasting, plays a clearly defined supporting role to the featured chef and their dish. Here she introduces some fabulously festive traditional recipes involving the communal enjoyment of fish. We aren't expected to attempt a recreation of such specialties as Thieboudienne from Senegal or Yusheng from Singapore but now we know where to order them in Australia.

WELLINGTON PARANORMAL MARATHON
Double episode ★★★★
8.30pm, SBS Viceland

The stars of this spooky police procedural spoof series, Mike Minogue and Karen O'Leary, have mastered the art of the deadpan delivery, a skill that carries them through the six supernatural scenarios on which lovers of this genre are tonight invited to binge. The playful voice of creator Jemaine Clement (one half of Flight of the Conchords) is loud and clear throughout such glorious silliness as "Demon Girl" and "Cop Circles".

JAMIE AND THE NONNAS
★★★
7.30pm, Ten

Jamie Oliver's Italian may be rudimentary but he has enormous respect for these domestic goddesses and they all seem to instantly warm to him. Frail as some of them are, they are eager to employ him as their willing assistant to slice and dice the ingredients for such wonders as stracotto, a slow-cooked beef ragout dolloped over home-made pasta ribbons. A side trip to the Jewish village of Pitigliano brings another recipe and a history lesson.
