SECRETS OF OUR CITIES
★★★
7.30pm, SBS

Greig Pickhaver (aka H.G. Nelson) again starts his historical view of an iconic Australian suburb at the very beginning, by inspecting rock engravings with Indigenous archaeologists behind Bondi beach. He then meets a relative of the "father of Australian theatre", Barnett Levey. One of the best things about this series is the oral history preserved. The daughter of a Greek milk-bar pioneer, a World War II ammunition maker, and fashion designer Jenny Kee are among those with priceless memories.

THE CATCH
★★★
10.40pm, Seven

Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) may be a talented private eye with an enviable wardrobe but she has an irritating tendency to slur, especially when she's being sexy. Tonight, she's torn between two lovers when a former flame turns up with his new lady with the same swishy auburn hair curtain as his ex. Meanwhile, a far more gripping scenario plays out with her business partner, Justine (Gina Torres), and her hostage husband; while wicked Margot (Sonya Walger) has a lesbian fling.
