Job Description

• Consulting and advising clients of the important case detail elements.
• Determine legal strategies in regard to cases going to trial.
• Offering consultations and legal advice when dealing with case matters outside of court.
• Conduct Pre-Trial Actions preparing the Client for trial.
• Interview witnesses and other parties in relation to the case.
• Represent Clients during a trial, presenting evidence, making opening and closing statements, arguing motions and cross-examining witnesses and experts.

The Successful Applicant

• Completed a Bachelor of Laws / Juris Doctor degree OR admitted as a barrister and solicitor to the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory.
• Experience, ability and confident to appear in Local Court sentences and defended hearings.
• Experience and ability to assist our trial advocates in sentences and trials.
• Sound knowledge of the criminal law, criminal procedure, and the Evidence Act.
• Highly developed oral and written communications skills.
• Highly developed analytical skills.
• Good advocacy skills.
• Passion for the criminal law.
