Client is public sector authority based in Brisbane's CBD. they support the regions Civil Engineer / asset owners by providing specialised electrical engineering support. This is especially pertaining to street lighting projects. they are looking to engage a "Technical Support Officer" to work as part of the team.
Your new role
The department is responsible for managing road / public safety lighting in the region. This includes street lighting, but also public safety lighting in parks, bikeways and other public spaces.
The departments work is varied, but involves managing projects as well as maintenance and any stakeholder involvement in the network - whether from other public departments or members of public making requests for improvements / repairs or discussing light pollution.
The role is well suited to a cadet or junior electrical engineer, ideally with some experience in commercial setting. Candidates bringing some knowledge of the technical nature of the work, but also some interest and a strong work ethic to learn on the job.
What you'll need to succeed
Ideal candidate would have degree in electrical / mechatronic engineering or similar and have some experience working in commercial office setting in relevant engineering role. They would hopefully have some knowledge of street lighting (AS/NZS 1158) or an interest in getting in at the ground and working up.
Candidates would need good communication and negotiation skills in addition to the technical knowledge as will be dealing with a variety of stakeholder's on behalf of the department including members of the public.
