Trend: Treatment Waters

I love cleansing water to the point where it – shamefully – is the only thing I use in my night-time skin routine. Golden rule: get that make-up off at the end of the day, no matter what! These newcomers to the category are worth their weight in gold as they cleanse, tone and remove make-up in one step.

Road Test

This week I try … a Pilates class.

The lowdown In all my test-driving experiences I've never tried Pilates, so here I am with Gabby at the Barre Body studio in Bondi Junction for an out-of-hours oneon-one session. As we lie down on mats, I love the fact that I am anchored to the floor, so no risk of toppling over. Gabby talks me through every micro movement, all designed for maximum burn in my legs, arms, stomach and back. Sets are completed in counts of eight and by midway through the session, my glutes are on fire. The pulsing sets are punctuated by some much-appreciated stretching and there is also mini-pulsing with a soft ball between my thighs and beneath my lower back.

Pain factor Manageable at first but building to a crescendo.

Downtime Forty-five minutes.

Results I really know my body has been worked and contemplate signing up for further sessions.

Where to get it Sydney and Melbourne: Barre Body, barrebody.com.au. Cost: $100 for 30 days (intro pass) or $25 for a casual class.

At home Try CliniqueFIT PostWorkout Face + Body Cleansing Swipes, $26, sephora.com.au, for a freshen up post- workout.

What are the best parts of the body for men to apply fragrance? The chest, because it will sit between the skin and clothes and therefore last longer. As it dries, the scent will drift towards the neck, enveloping the senses. The crook of your arm and biceps are also good spots.
