Claire Falvey was stillborn in the same year, and her family had her ashes interred in a niche in a memorial wall at Norwood Park.

In the 1990s, the ashes were moved with several others into the new Childrens Court Wall, but as the Falveys had changed address, they were never informed of the move.

When Claire's mother went to visit her daughter's plaque, she couldn't find it, and staff didn't show her where it was.

Nilena Falvey, Claires older sister, said her familys inquiries as to the whereabouts of the ashes had been ignored or unresolved in the years since.

It was a very sensitive conversation for my mother, one she didn't want to pursue and push, Ms Falvey said.

But when her mother expressed concern some years later, around 2010, about the ashes, Ms Falvey contacted the crematorium to find out where they were.

I had a conversation with my mum about Claire, and she said, I just don't know where the ashes are, where they moved them, and I said, That's ok mum, I'll ring up for you, because she was clearly upset, she said.

I first rang [the crematorium] and left my details and no one got back to me, and then I thought maybe I'll email them.

I sent one email and a month later I followed up, forwarding my original one, and I still didn't hear back.

Mum, at the time, wasn't willing to pursue it.

It wasnt until she saw media coverage about the case of Timothy Mol that she decided to take action, and contacted Member for Ginninderry Tara Cheyne, who had highlighted the Mol familys case in an annual reports hearing in November.

Eddy Mol had contacted the crematorium in 2016 to retrieve the ashes of his baby son, Timothy, so that he could scatter them with those of his late ex-wife, whose dying wish was to have her ashes scattered on Mount Kosciuszko with those of her son.

But staff at the crematorium eventually admitted to him that the ashes had been lost.

Mr Mol, distraught, eventually told Ms Cheyne, who in turn contacted the crematorium on his behalf.

Ms Cheyne said when she wrote to Norwood Park seeking assurances that everything possible had been done to locate the ashes, she had initially received no response.

We rang them about a month ago and said, Hey, we wrote to you, where's your response?, she said.

They told my office manager that they weren't intending to reply.

When contacted by The Canberra Times in November, Norwood Park general manager Stephen Beer said his staff were widening their search for Timothys ashes, despite having told Mr Mol there was nothing more they could do.

In the meantime, two more families, including the Falveys, contacted Ms Cheyne with concerns of missing ashes.

Ms Cheyne then wrote again to Mr Beer, who responded claiming no knowledge of the Falvey familys complaint.

He said his staff had been deeply affected by the recent, unanticipated media coverage.

Meanwhile, the ashes of the second family, who wish to remain anonymous, were located during the widened search for Timothys ashes.

Mr Mol said this was the one bright spot in the whole debacle.

Just moments before speaking to The Canberra Times on Friday, Norwood Park had contacted him to tell him that there were no more places to search, and Timothys ashes were still missing.

They said theyd contacted the past manager, they said theyd kept good records, and as far as theyre concerned now, they cant do anything more for us, he said.

Its very frustrating and very disappointing.

He said that his daughter - Timothys sister - had written two weeks ago demanding an apology from Mr Beer, and had yet to receive a response.

She got no reply at all, and was very, very angry about the whole thing, he said.

You just trust these people to do the right thing by you.

Ms Falvey has also contacted the crematorium again via email, and is waiting for a response.

Mr Beer was not available to comment on Friday.
