1. CARTIER'S FINAL WEEKS
Whether diamonds are your best friend or they're more of a long-lost high school mate, the Cartier exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia is undoubtedly iconic. The multi-million dollar collection has drawn thousands of people over its three months here, and it's all coming to a glittering finale. So this weekend, trade the Canberra frost for some serious Cartier ice. Visit nga.gov.au for tickets. Exhibition is open daily from 10am-5pm until July 22. $20-$55.
2. WORLD CURRY FESTIVAL
Instead of shivering the weekend away as you beg for the sweet dawn of spring, sprinkle some spice on your wintry life. If you missed out on the Multicultural Festival in February, rest assured the World Curry Festival will yummy up City Walk this Friday to Sunday. Hurry in for curries from Asia, Africa and Europe all served up in the heart of Canberra. And for those who like it hot, there's the chilli eating competition (milk is supplied). Festival dates include Friday, July 13, at 1-5pm, Saturday July 14, at 11am-10pm, Sunday July 15, at 11am-5pm.
3. SOUND AND FURY
If you consider yourself a little bit edgy and fancy your art with a side of party, Sound and Fury has your weekend set. With an evening which "flaunts and fuses performance artists in a party format", you'll find music, dance and spoken word in a makeshift NewActon location. Sound and Fury is fresh off a successful run at NZ Fringe and a sell-out performance at Art, Not Apart 2018. Get your tickets at soundandfurywinter.eventbrite.com.au. Saturday July 14, 8-11pm. $35.
4. BASTILLE DAY @ NGA
Say bonjour to French pride in the ACT. To celebrate Bastille Day this Saturday, the National Gallery of Australia is hosting a recital with renowned Australian flautist Jane Rutter. Expect classical French beats from Debussy, Marais, Ravel and Edith Piaf. We've even got one double pass to give away. To enter, email arts.editor@canberratimes.com.au and tell us why you’d love to celebrate Bastille Day at the NGA. Entries close noon Thursday, July 12.
5. BEAUTY WEEKEND
Ever dreamed of making your own Lush bath bomb? At the Beauty Precinct's first birthday weekend, learn the secret to making those suspiciously edible-looking delights. The Canberra Centre will be hosting product "tasters", a masterclass by celebrity makeup artist Chantelle Baker and to prove it's not all about what's on the outside, there's a delicious cocktail bar. For all the Celebrate Beauty events on offer visit canberracentre.com.au/blog/beauty-experience.
