After first skirmish in NEG war, omens are not good

Malcolm Turnbull had his authority enhanced when he and Josh Frydenberg trounced Tony Abbott and a fairly small anti National Energy Guarantee rump this week. The showdown in the government party room exposed the pro-coal, climate denying or otherwise NEG-ative feeling as representatives of the thinking of only about 10 per cent of the government. Perhaps more feel this way, but it does not appear to be an issue over which they would go to the trenches. The more so probably, given that Tony Abbott was being so destructive, so openly disloyal, and seemed more intent on damaging Turnbull than in promoting better policy or re-election of the government.
