The government has spent more than $2,600,000 on external contractors to improve ACT's Health's data - which has been dogged with concerns over its accuracy for years - since mid-2016.

It comes as the Health Minister Meegan Fitzharris delivered the final update of the urgent data review she ordered in February last year, saying ACT Health was on its way to becoming a "best practice" data and reporting organisation.
The government expects to have the review completed by March or April.
Government tenders show that just in January, ACT health spent almost half a million dollars on contracts to address clinical data migration and data software maintenance.
Tenders show since mid-2016, consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers has been the biggest winner out of ACT Health's data woes, scoring more than $1 million worth of contracts to help fix the data problems.
"Overall, I am pleased to say that the system-wide review has been instrumental in resetting and enabling effective data management practices across the ACT Health Directorate," Ms Fitzharris told the ACT legislative assembly.
"I am confident that the directorate now has a definitive performance reporting, and data management strategy, which if we continue to support, will transition ACT Health to a best practice data and reporting health organisation."
"The review is due to be completed by the directorate at the end of next month.
"The government will then consider the final outcomes and recommendations of the review in the coming months, I will then make further announcements on the review and the work that will be undertaken to continue to improve our data systems and processes moving forward."
ACT Health's data woes came to a head early 2017 when it was revealed it failed to submit data to the Productivity Commission for its annual comparison of the performance of states and territories because of accuracy concerns.
Ms Fitzharris ordered an urgent review in February last year, saying while ACT Health had been "proactive" in recognising the problem this time around, the department needed time to ensure its data management and quality assurance processes were "robust and accurate".
Ms Fitzharris said a number of key outcomes had occurred since the review began and her last update.
They included meeting external reporting obligations such as the latest productivity commission report, ensuring security and access policies are in place, embedding a number of key quality assurance processes, developing an annual audit program and rolling out new data storage.
"The system-wide review is just the start of the journey," Ms Fitzharris said.
"The directorate recognises there is still much to do to be an exemplar jurisdiction.
"I am very pleased that we can now say we are on a course that will support innovation in data reporting to meet local community, territory wide, and national requirements."
