Canberra is already the roundabout capital, but a group of Braddon businesses wants to take that a step further by decorating more roundabouts to highlight other causes.

With thousands of Canberrans flocking to Lonsdale Street for Yes!Fest on Saturday, the rainbow roundabout at the intersection with Elouera Street was the centre of attention.
The recently formed Braddon's United Retailers and Traders has called on the ACT government replicate the idea but for other causes.
Spokesman for the group Kel Watt, who owns a business on the street, said more decorated roundabouts would benefit the community.
"It keeps good causes at the forefront of people's minds and attracts business to the area," Mr Watt said.
He said since the government unveiled the rainbow roundabout it had become a tourist attraction and each day people were taking selfies at the colourful intersection.
He stressed the appeal was not to diminish the significance of the rainbow roundabout but to build upon it.
"There are multiple roundabouts in Braddon, with two less than 100 metres away from the rainbow roundabout," Mr Watt said.
"They could also become symbols of adversity, challenges and triumphs for causes like reconciliation, women’s suffrage, the environmental movement and multiculturalism."
When the rainbow roundabout was launched almost a year ago Chief Minister Andrew Barr said it was a fitting tribute in the roundabout capital.
"We're going to recognise this significant moment in our city and our nation's social and political history," Mr Barr said at the time.
A spokeswoman for Mr Barr said the government was open to decorating more roundabouts, and in the right circumstances other pieces of public infrastructure, to recognise significant causes.
She said at this stage no locations or causes had been considered to be recognised in such a way, however she suggested that if other pieces of infrastructure were decorated they would likely be spread throughout Canberra and not restricted to Braddon.
Frugii Dessert Laboratory co-owner Ed Marshall said she had witnessed the roundabout bringing new customers to the area.
"Once the lights came on there were people taking photographs all the time," Mrs Marshall said.
"Then they're having a wander around and seeing what's around and taking the time to say hello to traders."
Mrs Marshall said causes that sprung to mind were reconciliation, veterans issues and animal welfare, she said there would be no shortage of ideas.
"There's a message behind the roundabout, which is what I like, you might go and take a photo and then think about the message behind it all."
Braddon, which has experienced a period of significant gentrification over the past decade, has become synonymous with cafes, bars and boutique shopping.
Mr Watt said he began Braddon's United Retailers and Traders to highlight that businesses of all varieties call Braddon home and to give small business owners a voice.
