Canberra's Planted has launched, delivering indoor plants with same day delivery

If you look at any interior design television show/magazine/Pinterest board these days, there's no question that indoor plants are in. But are they good for more than just making your space Insta-worthy?

Yes, according to Renee Douros, founder of new Canberra indoor plant delivery service, Planted.

Douros, who is an interior architect by trade, said adding some greenery to your space is scientifically proven to increase your wellbeing.

"There are all these proven psychological and physiological benefits. There's the main one that everyone knows, which is air purifying," she said.

"And then there's something called biophilic design, which is based around our genetic makeup. Plants can enhance wellbeing because they evoke something in us that is primal from when we relied on nature and were surrounded by it.

"So now in the modern day in an urban environment, even if you buy a little succulent, it can enhance your productivity in your workplace as well as make you happier."

Douros also runs digital platforms The Floral Society and dessert parlour The Sugar Deli, and her team were constantly being asked by customers if the potted plants that decorate their Kingston florist were for sale.

So this week, she launched Planted as an extension to The Floral Society.

"Potted plants are beautiful and they're another option for people - some people don't necessarily like the fact that flowers expire so quickly," she said.

"And it's a nice sentiment, say if someone has just had a baby, you can send them an indoor plant and it can grow with the child."

Plants are available to purchase via a 'digital nursery', and they range from succulents to fiddle leaf figs and leafy ferns. They range in price from $30-$100, with options to add on a pot.

And don't stress if you're a brown thumb - Planted's range was chosen specifically for, "plants that are harder to kill". Each one comes with its own care card, and if your plant does start to look a bit sad, you can call 'the plant whisperer'.

"We have a plant whisperer service, so if your plant looks like it's gone a bit off, just send us a photo of the plant and we can diagnose the symptoms and come back to you and say, 'we recommend this, this and this'," she said.

"We understand that some people have no idea what they're doing so we offer that support to make sure your plants thrives."

Planted is open Monday to Friday, with delivery available same day if ordered before 3pm. The delivery areas includes Canberra, Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and Googong.
