The Canberra Times for iPad and canberratimes.com.au are not introducing subscriptions, and you can read as many articles from our Canberra newsroom and from across the Fairfax network as you want, as often as you want with no charge.
However, from today, visitors to the smh.com.au and theage.com.au websites and their mobile versions will have free access to the first 30 articles they click each month before being asked to pay under a metered subscription model.
Meanwhile, the popular tablet apps of the Herald and Age will adopt a so-called freemium model. Rather than tally each swipe of the screen, Fairfax will leave some sections free while others will be accessible only to those who pay.
All sections are free in The Canberra Times for iPad app.
The subscription plan, which applies to visitors based in Australia, New Zealand and other Asia-Pacific nations, begins July 2. Other international visitors have already been asked to subscribe over the past two months.
