Police are investigating a car fire that caused residents to be evacuated from a unit block in Farrer in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Firefighters called to the blaze, in the car port of the two-storey block on the corner of Lambrigg and Pridham streets, about 2am.
Three pumpers, a breathing apparatus vehicle, a HAZMAT unit and a commander were sent to the scene.
The fire was contained to the car and car port, which were destroyed, but there was smoke and heat damage to the unit block.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said the incident was under investigation and the circumstances around the fire were yet to be established.
The HAZMAT unit was conducting atmospheric testing on Tuesday to ensure it was safe for residents to return to their homes.
