The ACT construction union received $3.8 million from the union-linked Tradies Clubs in the months after the territory government paid the club $3.9 million as part of a controversial land deal in Dickson.

A Canberra Times review of six years of the club's financial reports shows the funds, transferred in 2014-15, were the largest annual contribution the club gave the CFMEU between 2010-11 and 2015-16, inclusive.
The club's records show it gave the union $3,869,733 in related party transactions in 2014-15, the same year the club received $3.9 million from the government for the Dickson block in December 2014.
The land, block 6 section 72 Dickson, was part of a complex land deal between the now-defunct Land Development Agency and the club that is now being investigated by the territory's Auditor-General, Dr Maxine Cooper.
But club chairman and union secretary Dean Hall said the payment had "nothing to do with" the land deal and that the actual source of the funds was "none of your business really".
No specific dates are reported in the club's financials for the actual transfer of the $3.8 million "related party transaction".
But the union's financial records for the 2014 calendar year do not mention the contribution, indicating the funds were transferred in the second half of the 2014-15 fiscal year, after the government paid the club the $3.9 million in late December 2014.
Mr Hall said the funds were simply from "general [club] revenue to support the activities of the union", that the club had "many sources of revenue" and its key purpose, as stated in its constitution, was to support the union.
In each of the six years of reports reviewed, the club gave the union $1.1 million in 2010-11, $820,871 in 2011-12, $738,060 in 2012-13, $712,924 in 2013-14, $3.8 million in 2014-15 and $398,327 in 2015-16.
The club's 2014-15 financial report also showed an "accrued expense" of $3,339,000 for the Dickson car park next door to the club - money the club owes the government for block 30 section 34 as part of the land deal.
Those funds, while slightly short of the $3.5 million the government has said was owed, was to be paid once another car park in the area is developed.
Planning Minister Mick Gentleman and Housing Minister Yvette Berry earlier this month announced some of the land involved in the deal would be used for affordable housing, while other areas in Dickson could be used for private development.
Dr Cooper told a Legislative Assembly hearing last week a report of the audit office's investigation into the land deal was expected to be ready for tabling next month.
