Cultivating a love for rare fruits, nuts and berries

In 1991 The Complete Book of Fruit Growing in Australia (Lothian Books) by Melbourne GP Dr Louis Glowinski covered more than 200 fruit, nuts and berries for us to grow. The author had rejuvenated a backyard orchard in his Caulfield home which led to his particular obsession with rare fruits. The book was updated and published in paperback by Lothian in 1997 when I wrote in a Kitchen Garden column that not only did the author offer sound practical advice, “but his huge enthusiasm and light writing style encourage the reader to discover snippets of history, quirky hints and culinary tips.”
