A development application has been lodged to demolish yet another public housing block as the government prepares to sell the site as part of its wider urban renewal agenda.

As part of the Commonwealth's Assets Recycling Initiative the ACT Government will renew 1288 public housing properties by June 2019.
An ACT government spokeswoman said the application would assist the territory to de-risk the site once it was released to the market. She said the government was finalising due diligence reports and sales documentation.
The demolition is estimated to cost $2.2 million and would see the six apartment blocks, containing 72 units, and a number of covered carpark and storage structures removed. The buyer of the block will determine when demolition would start.
Plans for the site proposed by the buyer will be reviewed and the developer is required to undertake pre-development application community consultation.
The flats are still occupied and relocation of tenants will start later this year.
In June, Doma Group and Stockland won a $50 million tender to redevelop the Red Hill public housing precinct. Bega Court in Reid, Allawah Court and Currong Apartments in Braddon, Karuah and Dickson Flats and Owen Flats in Lyneham have been sold.
