Four F/A-18 A/B Hornets will pass over the city about 2.10pm as part of an Australian Defence Force farewell for outgoing Defence Force chief Mark Binskin.
The aircraft will approach Canberra from the south-west and hold near Mt Stromlo, before tracking over Parliament House along Kings Avenue to Blamey Square in a box formation.
They will then head off to the north-east over Mt Ainslie en route to Royal Australian Air Force Base Williamson, near Newcastle.
The planes will fly no lower than 76 metres above ground level over Blamey Square and travel at a maximum speed of 833 kilometres per hour.
The planned flight is subject to change depending on the weather and operational requirements.
