The ACT Emergency Services Agency said two people at the Bemboka Crescent home called Emergency Triple Zero (000) about 6am after hearing noises in the roof.

"The fire was contained to the roof space and it is believed the fire began in the chimney. Firefighters are now checking for fire extension through the rest of the house," the agency said about 6.30am.

The ACT Ambulance Service also attended but no one required treatment.
