An ACT Emergency Services Agency spokesman said firefighters were initially called out to the first fire just after 6pm at the Alexander Maconochie Centre.
That blaze was put out by about 7pm but at 8.30pm another had called crews back.
This time ambulance services also attended along with two pumper crews, hazmat and a commander.
"It can take time to get into the [centre] but staff assisted us," the spokesman said.
He was unable to comment further.
ACT Health confirmed one person had been taken to hospital after the fires.
ACT corrective services did not provide further detail.
Police also returned to the scene of the second fire.
An ACT Policing spokesman earlier said a decision about whether to investigate the first fire had yet to be made.
"We're still waiting to find out if it was an accident or not," he said.
