ARTY FARTY CHRISTMAS
The Sound and Fury crew is once again bringing performance art in party form to Canberra - but this time it's festive. Come along to their Arty Farty Christmas party, directed by Little Dove Theatre Art, for a serving of spoken-word, music, theatre, dance, and live art that will continue late into the night. LOVE & DESIRE
The National Gallery's seductive new exhibition of Pre-Raphaelite art works has just launched, featuring 40 of the Tate’s most renowned masterpieces, including John Everett Millais’ Ophelia and William Holman Hunt’s The Awakening Conscience. Most of the works tell tales of faith, heartbreak, death and lust, and have never been seen in Australia before. National Gallery of Australia, Parkes. 10am-5pm until April 28, 2019. WOMEN'S SELF-DEFENCE
Thinking about potential attackers isn't exactly weekend fun, but learning useful new skills is. In this two-hour women's self-defence workshop at martial arts school Dark Carnival, you'll build up your response to threats, develop disengagement tools and participate in drills to increase environmental and situational awareness. In his summer soirée series, the folklorist will unravel the mysteries, myths and legends of Lake George while a three-course dinner is served with Lerida Estate wines.
