Braddon Smash Repairs owner Jeff Badcoe said last week that all the broken material had been removed from his site and the business was back running to full capacity, five weeks after the panel fell on the site.

A prohibition notice on the construction site was lifted on February 22, while a non-disturbance notice was lifted from different areas of the site in stages. It was fully removed on March 8, 2019.

The site's old asbestos toilet block was removed after being crushed by the concrete panel, and Mr Badcoe said he was still waiting for a new one to be installed.

Mr Badcoe said all the cars parked near where the panel fell were repairable and that the majority of his customers were happy with the outcome.

"Everyone's been really good," he said.

"Typically everyone's pretty reasonable."

Construction company Chase would meet the cost of the new amenities block for the smash repairer, including the cost of an asbestos assessor and removalist, a WorkSafe spokeswoman said.

Mr Badcoe, whose business is one of the last light industrial firms left in Braddon, said the smash repairer would stay in the suburb as long as it could.

"It's not a fitting place for our industry here now," he said.

"But who wants to leave their car in Mitchell [for repairs] and catch a bus into the city?"
