Anthony Mitchener, 58, from Isaacs, appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with allegedly using a carriage service to make child exploitiation material available and allegedly being in possession child exploitation material.

No formal plea was entered.

Mr Mitchener, a former diplomat and current ACT chair of the Australia Indonesia Business Council, was alleged to have used a carriage service on September 30 to send child pornography material to himself.

Child pornography was allegedly found at his Isaacs address on Friday night during a search warrant conducted by ACT Policing's Criminal Investigations Team.

Mr Mitchener was granted bail under strict conditions, which was not opposed by prosecutors.

As part of the bail conditions, Mr Mitchener cannot be around children under 16 and must be in the company of other adults around his children.

Mr Mitchener was told to surrender his passport and cannot be within 100 metres of international departure points.

The accused has been limited to one internet device and one email account for work purposes only, with police being able to monitor the devices and have password access.

Bail conditions also stated Mr Mitchener is not allowed to access a mobile phone, and must report to police three times a week.

The case will return to court on December 5.
