Earlier this month it was reported that Ms Gallagher, who was forced out of the Senate when the High Court found she held dual citizenship when elected, had taken a job with Calvary Hospital, where she is working as a service development consultant for the Little Company of Mary Health Care.

Ms Gallagher is one of four new board members to join the RSPCA ACT. The other appointees include JLL property and construction project professional Chris Collins, Airservices executive general manager Michelle Bennett and public servant Viki Press.

RSPCA ACT president Jeffery Butler said the board comprised of Canberra professionals with experience in governance, law, technology, construction and finance who were committed to supporting the RSPCA ACT.

"We’re excited to welcome four outstanding individuals to join our team and look forward to collaborating with them further in the future," Mr Butler said.

The new appointees will join Mr Butler, Sara Goldsworthy, Robert McMahon, Bernie Towler and Alexandra Wedutenko on the board.

Ms Gallagher was disqualified from the Senate in May when the High Court found she did not take reasonable steps to renounce her British citizenship before the 2016 election.

She has since announced she will attempt to take back her seat at the next election, but her replacement in the upper house plans to put up a fight.
