Canberra region winemaker Hamish Young has been named in the final 12 of the Young Gun of Wine awards, which showcase and celebrate Australia's emerging winemakers.

While Hamish has been working in wine since 2005, including the better part of a decade at Eden Road Wines, he has only just released the second vintage under his own label, Mada Wines.
He was one of two finalists from the Canberra district in the top 50, alongside Lark Hill Winery's Chris Carpenter, and is the only remaining finalist from the ACT and NSW.
Hamish will now go up against three winemakers each from Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia, and two from Victoria, with the overall winners announced at the Young Gun of Wine awards ceremony on June 18 at MONA Gallery in Hobart.
