The Wish development, estimated to cost $20 million, would see construction of six buildings of up to five storeys take over two office buildings at 9 and 15 Thynne Street. An application to demolish the buildings is under review by the planning directorate.

The application also wants to consolidate the two blocks, blocks 12 and 13 section 32, and subdivide it into two crown leases, 'block A' and 'block B'. The development will be built by TP Dynamics, who also owns the site.

There will be a total of about 3200 square metres of commercial space and 10,683 square metre of residential space compromising of 56 townhouses and 12 two-storey, four-bedroom loft style apartments. The townhouses are on the market for between $499,950 to $689,950.

Block A, which will front Thynne street, will predominantly be commercial. It will have office space across two floors and shops, restaurants, a drink establishment and a 200 square-metre supermarket on the ground level. It will also be home to the 12 "sky terrace" apartments. The building also has two levels of basement car parking.

Block B, which will be behind the commercial building, will have the 56 two and three-bedroom, two-storey townhouses across five buildings with individual parking spots.

Senior project manager at TP Dynamics, Ace Popovich, said construction would be in two stages, the first being the demolition of the existing on-site buildings and the second the development itself.

"If all goes well with the approvals, we're looking to start construction in January 2019 with a target completion of June 2020," Mr Popovich said.

"Bruce’s landscape is changing. It is transforming from a dated technology park to a vibrant residential hub close to Belconnen with great surrounding amenities like sporting, educational and medical facilities."

He said the development would bring more activity to Bruce.

The application said a number of street trees would be erected on the Thynne Street verge to "continue the area’s landscaped street setting".

Mr Popovich said the development had drawn interest from a mixed group of people, including investors, first home buyers and empty nesters.

If approved, demolish will start in October.

Submissions close on the development application on August 29.
