ACT Policing is investigating a collision between a car and a pedestrian that occurred about 8pm in Belconnen.
The man, a pedestrian, was treated by an ambulance at the scene and taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
ACT Policing's officer in charge of traffic operations, acting Station Sergeant David Wills, cautioned Canberrans to be careful on the roads.
“This is a tragic incident and the first fatality on ACT roads in 2019. I would urge all road users to exercise care and caution on our roads during this busy period," he said.
