"I think in a word, Manu,'' Evans said. His French co-host, Manu Feildel, turns 40 this year, and Evans says his accent and sexual appeal attracts viewers of both sexes to the show.
Preliminary figures from audience measurement agency OzTAM ratings found more than 1.8 million viewers in the five capital cities and 2.7 million viewers nationally tuned in to watch MKR.
What's surprising is this was on Valentine's Day, so perhaps there is something in Evans's joke.
This is the fourth season of the amateur cooking show, and it has been beating the pans off its reality rival on the Ten Network, Masterchef: The Professionals.
