Beside the left-hand lane on a road in Canberra's north stood a sign warning drivers the speed limit was 60km/h.

Directly across from that sign on Flemington Road, between the right-hand lane and the light rail track, another sign said the limit was 40km/h.
A few metres further on, a third sign said 70km/h was the maximum legal speed.
So, which was it?
Drivers were understandably confused and took to Reddit this week to share their theories.
"If you are in the left lane you can go 60, in the right lane you need to do 40, and then everyone can do 70 when you get to that sign," one said.
Others had a more tongue-in-cheek take on the situation.
"The answer is clearly 56.666666666667 km/h.... Approximately," wrote one user.
"Choose your own adventure," another suggested.
The confusion has since been cleared up, with only the 60km/h sign still visible.
While ACT Policing is responsible for enforcing speed limits, they are set by the ACT government.
The government's Transport Canberra directorate did not respond to questions about why there were three speed limit signs within metres of each other, or what drivers should do if they had been fined for speeding while there were multiple signs in place.
